Deposit & Cancellation Policy

Your deposit holds the time slot for your appointment- all deposits are non-refundable and go towards the final cost of your tattoo at your last session. If you need to reschedule an appointment you must give 48 hour notice so I can attempt to find someone else to fill your spot. Cancellations/postponements with less than 48 hours notice forfeit this deposit and a new one must be made to reschedule.

If I am not given a heads up I miss out on an opportunity to find someone else to fill my schedule and suffer a loss of income for that day.

Aftercare

I use Tegaderm and Saniderm “second skin” dressings post tattoo session, unless you have a known allergy or sensitivity to these products.

If your new tattoo is wrapped in this way, please do not remove the wrapping before 3 days time; 5+ days is ideal. Fluids will accumulate under the wrap, including colors from your tattoo, pink (blood) and clear/yellow (platelets). This is totally normal! If possible, I ask that you leave these fluids untouched as long as possible. The platelets contain your own healing growth hormone, and act to accelerate your healing! You may experience a bit of itching under your wrap, and this is a normal part of healing- luckily, the slick surface of the second skin protects you from scratching and damaging your new tattoo- try gently “spanking” the tattoo a bit to relieve the itch.

You can shower with a second skin wrap in place, but be careful not to allow products like shampoo or soap to settle in the top edge of the wrap- even if these products aren’t irritating in the shower, stuck under your wrap for hours, they can cause irritation for sure! Also avoid soaking in tubs, pools or hot tubs for the first 2 weeks after a session.

When you remove your Tegaderm/Saniderm wrap, it is best to do so in the shower. The wrap comes up easier and the fluids under the wrap go neatly down the drain. The fluid accumulation may have an unpleasant smell- this is also normal!

Occasionally, I may not use a second skin style wrap post session, due to clients’ sensitivities, or the impracticality of the location. In which case, I advise that the area is regularly cleaned with an antibacterial soap without fragrance (Dial Gold is a good stand-by), then lightly moisturized with food-grade coconut oil- extremely thin coats, with freshly cleaned fingers several times a day, for about 1.5-2 weeks. Hustle Butter is a thicker, shea-butter based aftercare readily available online/via amazon that I can also recommend. Petroleum-based ointments such as vaseline or A&D ointment are not recommended, as their petroleum base blocks oxygen and clogs freshly shaved hair follicles, leading to bumps and irritation. If you’ve never tried coconut oil or Hustle Butter (or second skin), please try these and see just how much better and comfortably your tattoo heals!

If you are healing without a second skin wrap, avoid contact with tabletops or gym equipment/mats for at least 2 weeks. Cover your fresh tattoo if you’re out in the sun, and be prepared for a little ink transfer to your clothes and sheets. Itching and peeling are normal, and resist the urge to pick, scratch or “help” your tattoo peel. This could all cause scarring. Keep your tattoo clean and moisturized, and avoid friction or pressure on the area!

Vegan products and Processes

What’s this mean? It means I’ve eliminated animal products from all of the materials I use during your tattoo process. No animal glycerin or animal bone based carbon in my inks, no lanolin in my stencil papers, no lanolin strips on the razors, no green soap (and the peppermint castile soap I use instead has a nifty cooling effect!). Don’t worry omnivores, you won’t notice, and I promise you won’t catch a bad case of veganism. My vegetarian and vegan clients, I’ve got you covered!
